How much can I pay into an ISA?

In the current tax year you can pay up to £20,000 into one or more of the four types of ISA:

  • Cash ISA
  • Stocks and Shares ISA
  • Innovative finance ISA
  • Lifetime ISA

(Please note that Fidelity does not currently offer an Innovative finance ISA or Lifetime ISA).

For the current tax year the total ISA allowance you can invest is £20,000 shared across all four types but the Lifetime ISA is capped at £4,000.

With a Fidelity Stocks and Shares ISA, you can choose to invest by a single payment, or through a regular savings plan, with payments that are monthly, quarterly, six-monthly or annual.

If you have an ISA with another provider, in addition to your Fidelity Stocks and Shares ISA, we will not know how much you have in that ISA. For this reason, we may not always be able to stop you exceeding the overall limit. You need to keep a careful check on how much you invest across all accounts. If you’ve exceeded your ISA allowance, you should contact HMRC and they will tell you what to do.
