When might a Grant of Representation not be required?

We can release money from the estate without a Grant of Representation if the total value of the estate you're looking after is less than the nil-rate band for Inheritance Tax, or if the investments of the person who died are worth less than £35,000 in total.

You will need to send us a Small Estates Form, which must be witnessed, along with a certified copy of the will.

If the estate has applied for a Grant of Representation, then we cannot accept a Small Estates form, and would require the original of the Grant of Representation.
